A Poem and Illustration by Emily T.
When you see her dance
It's so elegant It puts you into a trance
She pirouettes and springs
Like a gazelle
Her body a swan
Gentle but strong
Misty, so mystique
You could not mistake her
Lighter than any feather
That’s our Misty.
Misty Copeland was the first African American woman to be promoted to principal dancer in the American Ballet Theatre's 75-year history.
