All of the 3rd graders read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory book by Roald Dahl and watched the 2008 movie. Because of the fact that Ms. Arias’s class was so enthusiastic about the movie she wanted to try doing a play. All the students thought it was a great idea, so she decided to hold a performance in front of the whole 3rd grade and for their families. Every day around 1pm they practice to get as close to perfection as possible. They will hold a performance for 3rd grade students and their families on Dec. 15th at 8:45 in the cafeteria. They will also be included in this years Holidays Around the World Show on Thursday Dec. 16th at 6:30 pm. Director “Mrs. Arias” :
What gave you the idea of doing this play?
“I read the book to my class, [...] they watched the movie, [...]they all liked it and got very excited when I suggested a play.”
Do you want the play to be like the movie?
“Yes, so the students and I can have an idea of how the play will go.”
Are you excited that your children will perform?
“Of course, I am super excited to see all of my students perform because they all are working so hard.”
Willy Wonka “Manuel” :
How do you feel about your character?
“I really like my character and I think I will do a good job.”
What is your favorite trait of your character?
“I like that my character is always excited and very mysterious.”
What is your favorite line or part of the play?
“My favorite part of the play is when Willy Wonka gives Charlie the ownership of the factory.”
Charlie “Carter” :
How do you feel about your character?
“I feel happy that I got the character that I wanted.”
What is your favorite trait of your character?
“My favorite trait is how my character found his golden ticket.”
What is your favorite line for the play?
“My favorite part is when he finds the dollar to get the ticket.”
The Candy Man “Eliana” :
How do you feel about your character?
“I feel happy and confident that I will do good.”

“My favorite trait is the job my character has.”
What is your favorite line for the play?
“My favorite line is, “A Scrumdiddlyumptious Bar!” It is very funny.”
News Reporter “Zoe” :

“I feel good about my character and I want to be a reporter when I grow up so it is good practice.”

“My favorite trait is that she is always happy and she talks A LOT!”
What is your favorite line for the play?
“My favorite line is my first one because it talks about the tickets and has a lot of words.”
Oompa Loompa “Lyla” :
How do you feel about your character?
“I like how my character sings all the time and how they dress up. I LOVE their hair the most!”
What is your favorite trait of your character?
“My favorite trait is that they are always happy and rhyme.”
What is your favorite line for the play?
“My favorite line is the one about Augustus Gloop because it says, ‘Eating as much as an elephant eats.’ It’s funny.”
